High $ Veneer Cherry Stub Logs On Our Wood Mizer
Facetiously speaking about the veneer, of course! Haha! These stubby logs belong to a customer who wanted some really nice 4/4 Cherry lumber, just over 2 feet long. The logs were so short we had to improvise in order to clamp and mill them. Even though they were small, they were beautiful and yielded a lot of awesome lumber. In hindsight, for the ending photo, I wish I had swapped the top boards (which were the least nice) for some of the other beautiful boards. At least, I found a good one for the thumbnail.

Wood-Mizer Mills Cedar Medals for 15k & 30k Trail Run
Просмотров 35 тыс.6 лет назад
These tiny Cedar logs are being milled into disks that will eventually be medals for the participants of the Pleasant Creek Trail Run September 15, 2018. There were approximately 400 disks that we milled for this project. Speed was added to the video in differing amounts sporadically throughout the video, to make it more pleasurable for everyone. Thanks for watching, commenting, and passing the...

Family Team Mills Long Oak Log

This is the contrasting Oak log for the Walnut log in the last video, for the gentleman that makes beautiful inlaid crosses. Long logs over 13 feet are challenging to run through the edger, as they pose a risk of hitting equipment control panels at either end of the edger. In addition, these boards were tapered, so we opted not to edge them, that will give the customer more yield from his log.
Milling Walnut Log For LOTS of Crosses! On Wood-Mizer Sawmill
Просмотров 17 тыс.7 лет назад
The gentleman that owns this Walnut log makes beautiful inlaid wooden crosses. He gave us the cross that you see pictured in the thumbnail and at the end of the video. We also milled (& I recorded for an upcoming video) his Oak log, (visible in video background) which will undoubtedly be used to contrast with this Walnut. Our son that usually pulls off the mill was busy fixing our complicated i...
Linda Coils Wood-Mizer Blades and Drives the Toyota Forklift
Просмотров 56 тыс.7 лет назад
Twenty-eight is an unusual number of of ruined blades from any custom sawing job. Though this job yielded 10,000 board feet of finished lumber from naily logs, it was still a record number of bands. Several of the logs had railroad spikes embedded in them, which demolished the teeth instantly. Our standard practice is to metal detect for an approximate location, avoid that area until last, then...

Even though WE HAVE A GOOD DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM (video link below), there is plenty of dust and debris that falls to the floor. At the end of a day of milling there is always a mess that needs cleaning; sometimes more than others. This day the guys had other work to do, so I CHOSE TO CLEAN BY MYSELF! Less dusty and a great chance for a video! DUST COLLECTION VIDEO: ruclips.net/video/5_-Un4CGT...

Woodmizer Breaks Hackberry Board During Milling Process!

This Hackberry log had so much stress that the opening board split down the middle before the mill had finished cutting it. Most of the log was being milled into 2-1/2" thick boards for gun stock. The lower grade boards were 1" thick.

Nice operation! What species of wood are you guys using? I used to be a survey crew chief but never bothered to take the time to pay attention. I switched careers to the tree industry and am close to going full time with my firewood business and was considering buying a mill to fill some gaps. Given my connections to the industry I could likely pick up some orders. Thanks!

Thank you for this video. My boss and I have been going back and forth on how to cut short logs. We really want to set the lt15 up to do it but the hydraulic dog of our lt50 might make it easier. He wants to make some complicated gig system and I just want dogs that'll hold center of the log. Not complicated. Challenges like thus is why I love milling.

Just out of curiosity, when you cut logs into boards do you use the dumbass government measurements or do you use TRUE measurements. For example, are your 2x4s actually 2x4 or are they 1.75x3.75?
